Biophionitos is one of the project developed in Interactivos? 2008 in Madrid.
CONCEPT
The aim of the Biophionitos project is to generate artificial life using Zootropes.
By using the theory of generative art, the idea is to develope an interface able to create an animation which runs in an interactive phenakistoscop (rotary animation viewer) using Arduino.
DESCRIPTION
With technology as a creative process, the projects purporse is to create an application in Processing that allows the users to draw a virtual animal and use this as a physical animation.
Biophionitos is a reflection on the virtual creative processes and an educational D.I.Y. (“ Do it yourself”) tool of communication.
This animal/pet will becomposed of a limited series of simple polygons in which the program has made modifications to give the drawing biological movement.
As a result, the user will get a round shape with 16 sequences of the animal that can be printed and inserted in a phenakistoscop, and will be activated using an Arduino Board to show the final animation.
